Hello MWRTEC Attendees,

Greetings from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan! It is indeed our pleasure here in the EMU School of Music & Dance to collaborate with the College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University. I am thankful to Prof. David Saltzman of BGSU and EMU’s own Dr. Brendan Ige for all of their efforts to put together the Midwest Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference. I am appreciative of my colleague, Dean William Mathis, and everyone else at BGSU for opening their doors to the Tuba Euphonium community in our region. I know that it can take an entire village to host a conference, so please join me in thanking everyone who made this event possible.

Eastern has a long tradition of excellence in Tuba and Euphonium, found in our programs in Music Education, Performance, and Music Therapy. Dr. Ige’s studio has been a passionate group of low brass students and I know they are once again excited to be a part of MWRTEC. We’re extremely proud of their accomplishments not only on EMU’s campus, but also their success after graduation and their connection to the greater Tuba Euphonium community.

Thanks again to MWRTEC for allowing the EMU School of Music & Dance to be a part of what will surely be another successful conference. Best wishes as you take in the many performances, clinics, and networking with your friends and colleagues. Enjoy!

Sincerely,
Dr. Christopher Barrick
Director, School of Music & Dance
