Dr. Scott Roeder is Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley where he teaches applied tuba/euphonium and conducts UTRGV Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble. Previously Dr. Roeder served for 4 years as Principal Tubist with the Midland-Odessa Symphony and Lone Star Brass Quintet. Currently he serves as Principal Tuba with the Valley Symphony Orchestra. Additional orchestral performances include the Texas Music Festival Orchestra, the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra, Xalapa Symphony Orchestra, Canton Symphony, Illinois Symphony and many other professional orchestras throughout the country. Dr. Roeder is a Buffet Group USA Artist performing exclusively on B&S Tubas and Meinl Weston tubas.

Dr. Roeder has also presented sessions at the 2004 International Tuba Euphonium Conference in Budapest, Hungary and the 2010 International Tuba Euphonium Conference in Tucson, Arizona. He is the author of the book “Tuba Tutor”, a pedagogical text on solo tuba literature. Dr. Roeder has also served as an adjudicator at the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Competition, the International Tuba Euphonium Conference, and the 2018 AETYB Tuba Festival in Madrid, Spain.

Dr. Roeder received his Bachelors in Music Education at the University of Illinois, Masters in Music Performance from the University of Akron, and his DMA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His teachers include John Stevens, Tucker Jolly, Mark Moore, Sam Pilafian, and Pat Sheridan.

Joshua Bishop is a low brass performer and educator residing in Rawlings, MD and currently serves as the Lecturer of Low Brass at Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland. He earned his Master’s degree from the Jacob’s School of Music at Indiana University in music performance and his Bachelor’s degree from East Carolina University with a degree in music performance. His primary instructors include Demondrae Thurman, Carl Lenthe, Stephen Ivany, Joanna Hersey and Tom McCaslin.

Josh is active as a performer having performed with ensembles such as the Black Diamond Philharmonic and the world-renowned North Carolina Brass Band. As a soloist Josh has performed with various high schools across North Carolina, the Triangle Brass Band, the East Carolina University Wind Ensemble, and was featured on a performance of Karl King’s Melody Shop with the Indiana University Wind Ensemble. Josh is active in chamber music as a founding member of the Sequence Quartet, a professional euphonium quartet based on the East Coast.

As an educator, Josh teaches privately and has given clinics to middle and high schools across the East coast and has also given masterclasses to collegiate low brass students across both the United States and Canada. Josh currently performs on a Besson Prestige 2052 euphonium and an Edwards T-350E tenor trombone.
