Dan Burdick (he/him), pioneering queer brass artist, is member of the Board of Directors of the International Tuba Euphonium Conference and chairs its DEIB Committee. Dan has an extensive background in DEIB and co-founded the state-wide Pennsylvania System of Higher Education LGBTQIA Consortium that represented the interests of over 100,000 faculty, staff, and students on 14 campuses. He formed Erie Gay Pride that is now the non-profit Greater Erie Alliance for Equality. It provides training and resources to the Northwest Pennsylvania region. He serves as a Board Member of the International Women’s Brass Conference and is a founding member of its Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. He also served as the organization’s Executive Director. At Penn West-Edinboro, he was the co-chair of the Women’s History Month Committee, co-chair of the Women’s Studies Committee, and a member of the President’s Commission on the Status of Women. He also serves as a Board Member of the Burleigh Legacy Alliance and is an arts administration consultant for the Chromatic Brass Collective. He served as the administrative director of the National Conference, “The Heritage and Legacy of Harry T. Burleigh,” with the proceedings published in a special issue of the Black Music Research Journal devoted entirely to the conference [Black Music Research Journal, vol. 24, no. 2, 2004].
