CAC awards inaugural "Access to the Archives" travel grants

The Center for Archival Collections (CAC) travel grant committee has selected three individuals for the Access to the Archives Travel Grants.

1. Jeffrey Debies-Carl, University of New Haven – Sociology
Research into the social dimensions of historic fortifications (Ft. Meigs)

2. M. Stephen Salmon, Steamer Consulting, Orleans, Ontario, Canada
Research into the business of Canadian Great Lakes Shipping, 1900-1960

3. Chad Seifried, Louisiana State University - Sports Management
Research into the football stadia at BGSU (has done research on stadia at other institutions previously)

The CAC offers annually up to three competitive research travel grants to support researchers who plan to spend at least five full working days using collections held by the CAC. The award is intended to promote and support original scholarly or creative work and to defray the costs of travel to and residence in Bowling Green, not to exceed $1,500 per award. This is the inaugural year of the CAC Research Travel Grants.

Eligibility
Anyone - including but not limited to faculty, students, public historians, visual and performing artists, and independent researchers - who wishes to pursue a research travel grant may apply, regardless of academic status or affiliation. The research travel grant requires the onsite use of at least one the CAC’s collections, in any area, including the University Archives, Northwest Ohio Collections, Historical Collections of the Great Lakes, National Student Affairs Archives, and Rare Books. The research visit should result in a creative or scholarly product that will be shared with the public.

All applicants must be over the age of 18; reside beyond a 100-mile radius of Bowling Green, OH; and may not be current BGSU students or employees. The deadline for applications is April 15, 2025. Grants will be awarded for travel between July 1, 2025 and June 30, 2026.
