Break Housing Expectations
You will be expected to follow all the same codes of conduct as during the regular academic year. It is critical that you follow the additional procedures and policies listed below during your stay (such as no guests being allowed in the hall). Failure to do so will result in your immediate removal from the building by Residence Life and/or University Police.
- All Office of Residence Life, Office of Student Housing and University policies are in full effect during the Break period, the same as they are during the regular academic year.
- The Code of Student Conduct, found in your Student Handbook, will be enforced if necessary by University Police Officers and Residence Life Staff.
- Do not prop any doors, including main entry/exit doors.
- No guests are permitted in the building over Break at any time.
- Break Housing is only for approved residents. All others will be removed and are considered trespassers.
- Enter and exit the building by the main entrance and make sure the door latches and locks.
- Call University Police at 419-372-2346 if you experience any problems or emergencies. Remember that an emergency response can also be obtained by dialing 911 if medical and/or fire department assistance is required.
- Be prepared to show your ID to police at any time you are in the building.
- The computer labs in the residence halls will be closed.
- The Front Desk will be closed during the break.
- Items are not avialble to be checked out at the Front Desk during this time.

- Bathroom windows should stay closed. This will prevent the pipes from freezing.
- There is no custodial service. You are responsible for keeping the halls and bathrooms clean.
- Do not let anyone in the building.
- If someone approaches you and claims they have an emergency or forgot something, direct them to University Police at 419-372-2346.
- Keep track of your keys and BGSU ID. Lockout keys will have to be reported to University Police and may result in a fee added to your Bursar account.
- Take trash outside to the dumpster as normal.
- Check with Dining Services for dining location hours.
- Break housing students can use the kitchen and refrigerator located in their assigned building.
