Jordan Wilfong has four years of post-masters practice experience in community mental health as a child and family therapist in his hometown of Pittsburgh. He previously spent three years as a field supervisor and continues to supervise students at their field practicums from time to time. He holds a Ph.D. in social work from the University of Louisville, an M.S.W. from Widener University and a bachelor's degree in cultural anthropology from James Madison University.

The foundation of Dr. Wilfong’s research focuses on the ways in which social policies, federal and state governments and non-profit organizations provide resources for individuals experiencing poverty and inequality. He has published on those topics, and others, and presented at national and regional conferences such as the Council on Social Work Education, the Society for Social Work and Research, and the National Association of Social Workers, Ohio Chapter. Dr. Wilfong’s research is grounded in the principles of social justice and equality and has included samples of women in the criminal justice system, unhoused families and child welfare families.

Dr. Wilfong teaches courses on social policy, social welfare, generalist practice with individuals and groups, macro practice and family therapy.

Dr. Wilfong lives in Bowling Green with his wife and two children, Lucy and Max. He enjoys reading novels, dabbling in jazz piano, cooking, birdwatching and following his hometown sports teams from Pittsburgh.
