Graduate Funding
Assistantships are awarded on the basis of availability of funds, excellence of the student's academic record, GRE scores, personal letter of intent, and letters of recommendation. It is the Graduate College's policy to award assistantships only to students with a minimum 3.00 accumulative undergraduate GPA. All recommendations for awarding assistantships are made by the Graduate Admissions Committee to the Department Chair for final approval.
Depending upon the availability of funds, as well as the number of qualified applicants, the department will attempt to provide financial assistance for as many students as possible for one year of study. Please note that Master's students and Doctoral students are funded at different levels.
While PhD applications are taken throughout the year, and we have rolling admissions, to be considered for funding the complete application must be submitted before January 20th. Funding, if available, will begin the upcoming fall semester.
Please contact the Graduate Coordinator with any questions about funding or funding-related policies.
