- sports medicine specialization
New in the 2017-2018 academic year, the sports medicine specialization provides students with the educational and experiential training in allied-health professions. Students enrolled in this specialization will be prepared to pursue advanced degrees in health professions such as athletic training, physical therapy, occupational therapy, physician assistant, and medicine.
Students are afforded with ample opportunity to complete all required prerequisite courses for admittance into graduate degree programs. Additionally, students will receive a capstone internship where they will be mentored by professionals in the field of the students' choosing.
Student Learning Outcomes
1. Display knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform; examinations, assessments and diagnosis of orthopedic & musculoskeletal injuries
2. Understand the scientific bases of sports medicine, not limited to but including therapeutic interventions, health-related emergency situations, and clinical decision making skills for the sports medicine setting.
