Class Assignment Policy

The Career Design team of the Kuhlin Career Hub is eager to collaborate with faculty to develop effective class assignments that support the career readiness of BGSU students.

For faculty interested in collaborating on a class assignment, please complete the Class Assignment Submission Form to submit your proposal. Once received, a Career Design Coach will contact you to schedule a consultation appointment. To facilitate collaboration, the Career Design Coach team recommends that your proposal is received at least 4-6 weeks (about 1 and a half months) before the start of the semester.

For the following two most common class assignments, faculty will need to utilize VMock.
VMock is a free resource, and students can create their account by accessing the platform within the Kuhlin Career Hub section of MyBGSU. Faculty are encouraged to create a VMock account to explore and learn the system.

Learn more information, helpful guides, and tips on how to use the platform here.

Resume Review:

A class assignment that requires a resume review will need to utilize the platform VMock for this large-scale activity.

  • VMock’s Resume module will conduct a review using AI technology. Students can upload their resume or create one using one of the templates on the platform.
  • The following are the career readiness levels/scores for a resume:
    • Undecided/First Resume: 0-32% (red zone/beginning level)
    • Freshman/Sophomore: 33%-85% (yellow zone/moderate level)
    • Junior/Senior/Graduate/Post-Grad: 86%-100% (green zone/highest level)
  • Students will need to take a screenshot of their resume score/feedback page (desired score determined by instructor) and submit it for proof of completion.

Mock Interview:

A class assignment that requires a mock interview will need to utilize the platform VMock for this large-scale activity.

  • VMock’s Mock Interview module will conduct a mock interview using AI technology.
  • Students have access to a library of interview questions.
  • Students can upload a specific job description or their resume to generate interview questions using the SMART Interview module.
  • The following are the career readiness levels/scores for interviewing:
    • Freshman/Sophomore (no interview experience): 1 & 2 (red zone/beginning level)
    • Sophomore/Junior (2-3 interviews): 3 (yellow zone/moderate level)
    • Junior/Senior/Graduate/Post-Grad (3+ interviews): 4 & 5 (green zone/highest level)
  • Students will need to take a screenshot of their interview score/feedback page (desired score determined by instructor) and submit it for proof of completion.

A customized VMock resume review and interview assignment can be created in collaboration with the Kuhlin Career Hub.

  • To submit a request for a customized assignment, please complete the Class Assignment Submission Form.
  • A customized VMock assignment request must be submitted the semester prior to the assignment implementation to permit efficient time to consult and build the assignment.
