Athletic Success

• Volleyball shared the MAC regular season title for the second consecutive season, earning the No. 1 seed for the MAC Tournament for the first time since 1992.
• Kallie Seimet (Volleyball) earned her second consecutive MAC Player of the Year award, as well as being recognized as back-to-back MAC Defensive Player of the Year. She broke the school record for digs in a career and was AVCA Northeast Region for the second straight year. She led the country in digs per set for the second straight year at 6.74/set. In fact, BGSU has had the nation’s digs leader for three consecutive years (Madeline Garda in 2016).
• Women’s Soccer won the MAC regular season and tournament titles, advancing to the NCAA Division I Tournament for the first time since 2005. It was also the program’s first MAC regular season crown since 2005.
• In Women’s Soccer, Erica Hubert was named the MAC Offensive Player of the Year, Maureen Kennedy was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Year, and Matt Fannon was named the MAC Coach of the Year.
• Elisa Baeron (Women’s Soccer) was named third team CoSIDA Academic All-American. She was also the MAC Tournament Most Valuable Player.
• The Men’s Cross Country team was named runner-up at the MAC Championships, the highest team finish for the program since winning the championship in 1995. Noah Schaub and Tyler Phillips finished second and third at the league meet. Schaub went on to place 24th at the NCAA Regional, earning all-region honors.
• Men’s Basketball placed third in the MAC regular season standings and advanced to the MAC Championship game, eventually losing in a hard-fought contest to Buffalo, a team that won a game in the NCAA Tournament.
• Jovannah East won the MAC Championship on the balance beam for Falcon Gymnastics. East and Lauren De Meno both advanced to NCAA Regional competition as individuals.
• Talisa Lemke won two diving MAC Championships and Daisy Platts added a MAC Championship in the 200 backstroke for the Falcon Swim/Dive team.
• Aliyah Gustafson became just the second student-athlete in MAC history to win both the shot put and weight throw in one year at the MAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. She went on to place seventh at the NCAA Championships in the shot put and earn first team All-American status.
• BGSU Hockey earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, the program’s first appearance in 29 years. The Falcons placed third in the WCHA in the regular season and advanced to the WCHA Championship game, losing in overtime.
• Aliyah Gustafson won her sixth MAC Championship, doing so in the shot put during the outdoor season. She advanced to the NCAA National Championships and was named the MAC Most Outstanding Field Performer. Gustafson placed tenth at the national championships.
• Redshirt sophomore Kaila Butler won the MAC Championship in the hammer throw and advanced to the NCAA Regional preliminary meet. She qualified for nationals, finishing 12th.
