Ay Ziggy Zoomba
I hope this edition of RollAlong! magazine finds you doing well and beginning to enjoy summer! This has been an especially fun and busy year. In this edition, you will read about some of the events that made it a great year.
- Hiring of Football Head Coach Scot Loeffler and his staff
- Honoring Gary Haas as we retire jersey No. 6 — the first Falcon Baseball number to be retired
- The promotion of Ty Eigner to Hockey Head Coach and the history-making 2018-19 hockey season
- Spotlight on BGSU’s throws team
As always, we focus on the academic and athletic success of our student-athletes. BGSU student-athletes continue to amaze and show the true Falcon Warrior spirit! Be sure to check out the great infographics on page 12. Falcons continue to rise up on the field, in the classroom and in the community. We are extremely proud of the efforts of our student-athletes.
We are incredibly grateful for your investment in your student-athletes!
You are making a difference and changing lives. Thank you!
As we continue our quest to championship programs and the best possible student-athlete experience, we focused on increasing our annual support. Please encourage a friend, a BGSU classmate or teammate to consider joining the Falcon Club. All gifts, no matter the size, make a difference. With this past year’s successes, you can see the meaningful impact a successful athletics program has on our great University. Thank you for encouraging others to join you in making a difference for BGSU Athletics!
I hope you enjoy this edition of RollAlong! and wish you a relaxing,
fun summer.
Go Falcons!

Football Coordinators Have Lived The Game
Offensive coordinator Terry Malone and defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder give Loeffler a pair of college football warriors he expects to lean on often.
BG Staff Brings Abundance Of Experience
When Scot Loeffler was offered the BG head coaching job, he didn’t sit down and start considering whom he might want on his staff. Instead, he had long been developing his ‘dream team’ in anticipation of the eventual opportunity to lead a Division I program.
Falcon Baseball Retires Gary Haas’ Uniform #6
Gary Haas’ uniform No. 6 was retired in a ceremony on May 4, marking the first BGSU Baseball student-athlete to have his number retired.
2019-20 Falcon Club Membership
The Falcon Club Scholarship and Success Fund was created to align BGSU Athletics’ fundraising priorities with the increasing need for scholarship support.
Lemke and Platts
The Bowling Green State University Swimming and Diving program closed out a successful 2018-19 campaign, posting an 8-5 record in dual meets, including victories over Michigan State and Toledo.
Passing the Puck
A family move to the state of Minnesota when he was eight years old informally introduced Ty Eigner to this fast, seemingly chaotic sport played on the ice with skates, sticks and a hard rubber disc.
‘Throws U’
In the national ranking of each event in the country, Bowling Green ranks as just one of two schools to be among the top 15 nationally in shot put, hammer throw and discus.
The Rise Continues
For this proud program with such a rich history, a national championship banner hanging in its arena, and a legion of former players having moved on to success in the professional ranks, this was about reclaiming its place in the sport.
2018-19 Academic & Athletic Success
BGSU has amazing student-athletes that accomplished so much over the 2018-19 year. Within both athletics and academics, BGSU has numerous successes to celebrate.
