Carnegie Endowment for International Peace Carnegie Junior Fellows work as research assistants for one year conducting research for books, co-authoring papers, participating in meetings, and organizing briefings. Students with significant coursework in International Affairs, Political Science, Economics, History, or languages such as Russian, or Chinese are encouraged to apply.
Center for Strategic and International Studies Internships CSIS offers full and part-time internships in the fall, spring, and summer for students interested in gaining practical experience in public policy. There are multiple deadlines.
Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Fellowship The Rangel Program seeks individuals from all fields who are interested in foreign policy and careers in the State Department Foreign Service. The Program provides a summer enrichment program for undergraduates and funding for graduate school.
Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute The Fellowship offers Latinos who have earned a bachelor's degree within two years of the program start date a paid, nine-month fellowship to gain experience at the national level in public policy. Students must be Hispanic U.S. citizens or permanent residents to apply.
D.C. Internships The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) sponsors institutes that offer classroom study, internships, and special events. Sophomores and juniors with relevant professional or volunteer experience are preferred.
Davis-Putter Scholarship The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund provides grants to students actively working for peace and justice. These need-based scholarships are awarded to those who are part of a progressive movement on the campus and in the community.
Emerson National Hunger Fellows Program The Emerson National Hunger Fellows Program is a leadership development program for students committed to social justice. The duration of the fellowship is one year, during which fellows work in community and nonprofit organizations. Students with a commitment to social justice should apply, regardless of major.
German Chancellor Fellowship The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation's German Chancellor Fellowship Programme is targeted at university graduates who have an international outlook and leadership experience. Fellows spend a year in Germany networking with other prospective leaders from abroad and to explore new solutions to global issues.
Harry S. Truman Scholarship The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation awards students who wish to attend graduate school in preparation for careers in government and public service. Recipients of the award are required to work in public service for 3 of the 7 years following the completion of a Foundation-funded graduate degree program.
Henry Clay Internship The Henry Clay Internship is open to students at Kentucky colleges and universities who wish to pursue a career in public service for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Each intern receives a stipend for living expenses in Washington during the summer internship.
Herbert Scoville Peace and Security Fellowship The Scoville Program offers students the opportunity to work in Washington D.C. for 6-9 months with nonprofit, and public interest groups addressing peace and security issues. Prior experience with public-interest activism or advocacy is desirable.

La Unidad Latina Foundation (LULF) The La Unidad Latina Foundation was established in 1999 to serve as an independent, non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to funding educational achievement and civic empowerment in the Latino community. Scholarships are awarded ranging from $500 to $1000 to scholars pursuing academic excellence in higher education.
Laura W. Bush Traveling Fellowship The fellowship will help fund a proposal designed by the applicant to conduct brief work in a foreign country related to the mandate of UNESCO – using education, natural sciences, social and human sciences, culture, and/or communication and information to build strong ties among nations.
Leonard M. Rieser Fellowship The Rieser Fellowships provide up to two successful applicants with a one-time award of up to $4,000 to pursue projects that explore issues at the intersection of science, global security, and public policy, focusing on a significant aspect of nuclear security, climate stabilization, or biotechnology.

Chamberlain (MKC), IWPR offers a fellowship in public policy to a promising scholar each year. The Mariam K. Running Start Walmart Star Fellowship Each spring and fall, seven Running Start/Walmart Star Fellows are selected through a highly competitive application process. Star Fellows intern for a female Member of Congress Monday through Thursday and each Friday are trained by political experts in Running Start’s office and then mentored by high level political mentors.
Samuel Huntington Public Service Award The Award provides a $10,000 stipend for a graduating student to pursue one year of public service anywhere in the world.
Soros Fellowships for New Americans The Soros Fellowships provide funding for tuition and living expenses for graduate programs for permanent residents or naturalized citizens. Applicants must be a resident alien (green card holder), naturalized U.S. citizen, or child of two parents who are both naturalized citizens.
Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Fellowship The Fellowship provides funding for the senior year of college and first year of graduate study for students who are in academic programs relevant to international affairs, political and economic analysis, administration, management, and science policy. Applicants must be U.S. Citizens.
Tillman Military Scholars The Tillman Military Scholars program supports active and veteran service members who are completing a degree. Applicants must be a full-time student at a U.S.-based accredited institution and be a veteran or active duty military service member or spouse of an active duty or veteran service member.
Urban Fellows Program The Urban Fellows Program is designed to introduce college students and graduates to local government and public service through a nine-month fellowship that combines work in Mayoral offices and City agencies with an intensive seminar series.
US-UK Fulbright Summer Institutes The US-UK Fulbright Commission offers Summer Institutes for US undergraduates (with at least two years of undergraduate study left) to study in the United Kingdom during the summer. Programs range from four to six weeks and allow students to experience an exciting academic program at a highly regarded UK University.
Venture for America Fellowship Venture for America looks for talented seniors and recent grads who have track records of being leaders to join the movement to build businesses and create jobs throughout the country. There are deadlines in September, October, January, and March.
Washington Center Internships The Washington Center offers a wide range of internships for students in Washington, D.C. and abroad. Internships are for academic credit and do not include a stipend.
White House Fellows The White House Fellows program offers exceptional young men and women first-hand experience working at the highest levels of the federal government for one year.
