Required Online Modules

As a new student, you are required to complete modules as part of the BGSU multi-step orientation process that complement what you learn and experience during University Orientation.

The module series will be assigned to you after you attend orientation and you will be required to complete the series by the assigned deadline.

You will complete online modules that will teach you more about the BGSU community, help you discover resources and prepare you for success in and out of the classroom.

IMPORTANT: This is a University compliance requirement

All new students MUST complete these online modules. An email will be sent to your BGSU email account when each module series has been assigned, and additional reminders will be sent until each module has been completed.

If you do not complete this requirement:

  • You will not be eligible to join a student organization
  • A notice will be sent to your student success team to discuss next steps

What you need to know about the required online modules

  • The Hazing Awareness and Prevention module gives students a better understanding of how to recognize signs of hazing, identify misperceptions and consequences of hazing, as well as information on how to report hazing and prevent future incidents.
  • The Mental Well-being module equips undergraduates with essential skills and information to navigate the stressors and emotional challenges associated with college life. The course helps learners practice self-care strategies, recognize when they or their peers are in distress and take action to find additional support.
  • The Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates module engages students in fostering healthy relationships. Students are provided education on consent and bystander intervention. They are also provided information on how to recognize and respond to sexual assault, harrassment and gender-based violence.
  • The Understanding Alcohol and Other Drugs module explores the nature and consequences of alcohol and drug misuse during the college experiences. Students are provided the knowledge to recognize early signs of alcohol and substance misuse as well as how to overcome barriers to active intervention.
  • Log in to the BGSU Bridge Portal with your BGSU username and password.
  • On the portal homepage, you will see the module tiles listed for "Hazing Awareness and Prevention," "Mental Well-Being," "Sexual Assault Prevention for Undergraduates," and "Understanding Alcohol and Other Drugs."
