  • Bouzat research team sheds light on penguin evolution Mar 29, 2019 3:11 PM Dr. Juan Bouzat, a professor in BGSU’s Department of Biological Sciences, is part of an international research team studying the evolution of penguins. He is a co-author of a study published in the journal of the Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution that demonstrates the importance of island formation in the diversification of penguins.

  • National Weather Service names BGSU StormReady University Mar 22, 2019 1:46 PM The National Weather Service presented Bowling Green State University with a StormReady University designation March 22. The University is only the fifth in Ohio – the first in northwest Ohio – to receive this recognition.

  • BGSU wins NASPA Excellence Award Mar 15, 2019 11:15 AM BGSU received the NASPA Excellence Award at the NASPA National Conference on March 9-13 in Los Angeles in the categories of Administrative, Assessment, IT, Fundraising, Professional Development and related Excellence Awards category. The award recognizes the contributions of members who are transforming higher education through outstanding programs, innovative services and effective administration.

  • Falcon Forensics and Debate team wins national championship Mar 15, 2019 10:30 AM The BGSU Falcon Forensics and Debate Team both hosted and won the National Championships held by the Novice National Forensic Association March 8-10. The Falcons placed 16 student presentations in final rounds, earning five individual National Champion titles in multiple events.

  • BGSU’s graduate programs ranked among best in U.S. Mar 12, 2019 1:15 PM Bowling Green State University’s graduate programs continue to be ranked among the best in the country in U.S. News & World Report’s 2020 Best Grad School Rankings. The graduate program in education is 127th, the Master of Public Administration program 151st, and the part-time MBA program rose again to 159th.

  • National vote project names BGSU a ‘Voter Friendly Campus’ Mar 8, 2019 3:15 PM BGSU has been designated a “Voter Friendly Campus” by the Campus Vote Project, which is a national nonpartisan organization in partnership with the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators. The goal of the project is to help institutions develop plans to coordinate administrators, faculty and student organizations in civic and electoral engagement.

  • BGSU Student Veteran Organization acquires full-court flag Mar 8, 2019 1:12 PM The Student Veteran Organization (SVO) at BGSU successfully funded a 50-by-90-foot U.S. flag this past Veterans Day through the help of the community. Owned by the SVO, the flag was financed by the crowdfunding platform GoFundMe with a goal of raising $10,000; however, they far exceeding their goal by raising $12,700.

  • State of the Region Conference to address impact of global trade on local economic development Mar 6, 2019 3:00 PM BGSU’s Center for Regional Development will host the 17 annual State of the Region Conference on March 11. Participants will hear from CRD Director Russell Mills about economic development over the past year, and from keynote speakers representing key industries, organizations and international partners.

  • ‘Step Up-Step In’ campaign earns national recognition Mar 6, 2019 11:00 AM The BGSU ‘Step Up-Step In’ campaign by Recreation and Wellness was recognized by the National Intramural Sports and Recreation Association (NIRSA) at its national conference in Boston recently. BGSU took home second place in the Large Format Display category at the NIRSA National Creative Excellence Awards.

  • BGSU’s online bachelor’s programs for veterans ranked No. 1 in Ohio Mar 4, 2019 3:06 PM Bowling Green State University’s online bachelor’s programs for veterans are ranked No. 1 in Ohio in the 2019 U.S. News & World Report Best Online Program rankings. BGSU offers an eCampus option for students that features eight-week courses year-round with six different start dates. eCampus offers 16 degreed programs.

This past fall semester was her first at BGSU. Gallimore comes to BGSU from Wright State University, where she was associate dean for research and graduate studies.

  • Chapman Learning Community part of Habitat projects Mar 1, 2019 3:30 PM Chapman Learning Community members were among the many BGSU students who helped construct the first Bowling Green Habitat for Humanity home. Chapman first became involved with Habitat through building Little Free Libraries for the community to promote education and literacy outside of the University.

  • Alumnus earns Outstanding Young Music Educator Award Mar 1, 2019 2:02 PM Each year, the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) honors one young educator who is committed to excellence in music education and is deserving of statewide acknowledgement. This year, OMEA granted the Outstanding Young Music Educator Award to Bowling Green State University alumnus Brett Benzin ’11.
