Pro Musica annual Chamber Music Concert at Bowling Green Public Library

Pro Musica will host its annual Chamber Music Concert at 6:30 p.m. on April 18 in the atrium of the Wood County District Public Library at 215 N. Main St. in downtown Bowling Green.

The evening of light chamber music will feature students from Bowling Green State University’s College of Musical Arts. Students performing have been recipients of travel grants funded through Pro Musica at the college.

The program will include: “Intercession for 3 Oboes” by James MacMillan performed by oboists Thomas Morris, Ava Wirth and Jana Zilova; “Menuet Antique” by Maurice Ravel, performed by pianist Abigail Maser; first movement of the “Piano Sonata in A-flat Major” by Joseph Haydn performed by Hannah Bossner; “Ballade No 1 in G minor, Op. 23” by Frederic Chopin performed by pianist Hanqiu Xu; “Duos for Flute, Op. 34” by Robert Muczynski, performed by Alaina Clarice and Samantha Tartamella; and “Reflets dans l’eau” by Claude Debussy, performed by pianist Jonathan Guelfand.

Bossner is a graduate student majoring in piano performance from Swanton, Ohio.; Clarice is a flute performance major from Saint Clair, Ill.; Morris is a senior oboe performance major from Sterling, Ohio; Guelfand, from Argentina, is a graduate student majoring in piano performance; Tartamella is a senior flute performance major from Oakland, Mich.; Wirth is a senior oboe performance major from Sterling, Oh.; Xu is a junior majoring in piano performance from China, and Zilova, from the Czech Republic, is a graduate student majoring in piano performance.

For more than 30 years Pro Musica, funded by nearly 250 dedicated alumni, friends, parents and members of the Bowling Green community, has sponsored a wide variety of musical events and provided financial support to music students for educational travel projects. In addition, the organization provides funding for scholarships and various awards at the college.

The concert is free and open to the public.
