BGSU World Voice Day
Make the Choice to Cherish Your Voice
Students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome to attend BGSU World Voice Day on April 18 in 228 Bowen-Thompson Student Union.
Voice screenings are free and available from 11 a.m. to noon and from 1:15-4:45 p.m. In addition, a vocal performance will be presented from noon to 1 p.m.
World Voice Day is sponsored by the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, the BGSU Speech and Hearing Clinic, the BGSU National Student Speech Language Hearing Association and the College of Musical Arts.
Pro Musica to host annual Chamber Music Concert at Way Library
Pro Musica will host its annual Chamber Music Concert at 3 p.m. April 21 at the Way Library, 101 E. Indiana Ave. in downtown Perrysburg.
The afternoon of chamber music will feature students from Bowling Green State University’s College of Musical Arts. Students performing have been recipients of travel grants funded through Pro Musica at the college.
The program will include: “Clapping Music” by Steve Reich and “Opening” by Philip Glass, performed by percussionist Nicolas Fox, a doctoral student majoring in performance from River Falls, Wis.; the “Piano Sonata No. 4 in F-sharp Major” by Alexander Scriabin and the first movement of Beethoven’s “Piano Sonata No. 26 in E-flat Major,” performed by Yangmingting Fang, a graduate student in piano performance from China; and “Duo II” by Saverio Mercadante and “Suite Provençale” by Daniel Schnyder, performed by flutists Taylor Francis and Aldulfulyne Padmore. Both Francis, a sophomore from Murphy, Texas, and Padmore, a graduate student from East Orange, N.J., are majoring in flute performance.
For more than 30 years Pro Musica, funded by nearly 250 dedicated alumni, friends, parents and members of the Bowling Green community, has sponsored a wide variety of musical events and provided financial support to music students for educational travel projects. In addition, the organization provides funding for scholarships and various awards at the college.
The concert is free and open to the public.
