Students honored at annual honors and awards ceremony
This year the College saw an increase in student applications, scholarships offered and total money awarded from last year’s total. The pool of applicants was composed of 125 incoming freshman, 621 undergraduates and 11 graduate students. In all, the College awarded 218 students with academic awards and scholarships presented for books and tuition.
In addition to the awards presented at the Honors and Awards Ceremony, EDHD awarded its first Fahle Family Scholarship for Undergraduate Research since revising the award criteria this past year. This year’s recipient was Kerri Grothaus, athletic training, for her submission titled “Investigation of Factors Contributing to Altered Postural Control and Balance.” She was mentored by Dr. Andrea Cripps, Ph.D., ATC.
Grothause received a $6,000 tuition scholarship to be split up between the Fall 2016 and Spring 2017 semesters. In addition, Cripps received $1,000 to be awarded to her professional development fund.
Among the many scholarship awarded during the ceremony, the College of Education and Human Development honored its outstanding seniors with the following awards:
The Class of 1926 Award - Emily Kreinbihl, Maria Nielsen and Leah Oliver.
Outstanding Senior in Apparel Merchandising and Product Development - Morgan Brumit and Alexandra Whitney
Outstanding Senior in Human Development and Family Studies Award - Jerry (Jun Hyung) Cho
Outstanding Senior in Interior Design - Amber Birch and Elise Burke
Outstanding Senior in Sport Management - Abby Short
Ron L. Russell Student Leadership Award Chelsie Christian
The scholarships awarded this year totaled $346,866 dispersed amongst 209 students, making it the largest total amount awarded to EDHD students. Click here to view the entire list of scholarship and award winners.
