BGSU Young People’s Concert sets mood

BOWLING GREEN, O.—The Young People’s Concert series at Bowling Green State University continues Oct. 29 with “Singing Spooky,” a presentation by musical theatre students.

Dressed in costume, the students will perform songs from their favorite productions. Audience members are invited to come in costume for a special Halloween treat.

Dec. 3 brings “Home for the Holidays,” a performance by the BGSU Early Music Ensemble featuring songs from the Middle Ages, Renaissance and Baroque periods played on instruments such as the viola da gamba, the Renaissance fiddle and the crumhorn. These period instruments give their special sound to songs of the season.

The BGSU Chamber Orchestra hosts “BG Funharmonia” on March 24 in a performance of Ravel’s “Mother Goose Suite” complete with dancers.

BGSU string students will welcome spring in the final program of the season on April 14. “String Fling” will feature music performed solo and in duos, trios and quartets.

All concerts in the series begin at 11 a.m. in Bryan Recital Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center.

Admission is $1 for children and $2 for adults and is payable at the center’s box office the morning of the event. The box office will open at 10:30 a.m. for each concert.
