Fiction writers invited to 13th annual workshop
BOWLING GREEN, O.—Area fiction writers will have the chance to share their work in progress and get advice about preparing manuscripts for submission to editors and publishers at Bowling Green State University’s 13th annual Spring 2011 Open Writing Workshop April 16. The workshop is open to the public and designed for writers at all experience levels.
"It’s an ongoing commitment of ours to open our doors to writers in our region, especially northwest Ohio," said Dr. Wendell Mayo, workshop leader and professor of English. "Too many people these days find themselves writing in isolation."
Mayo is author of three books of fiction: Centaur of the North, a story collection and winner of the Aztlán Prize and finalist in the Associated Writing Programs Award Series in Short Fiction; B. Horror and Other Stories; and a novel-in-stories, In Lithuanian Wood.
The deadline to register is April 1. For detailed guidelines, contact Mary Ann Sweeney at 419-372-6864, or e-mail masween@bgsu.edu. Guidelines are also available online at /content/bgsu/en/academics/arts-and-sciences/english/creative-writing/open-workshops.html.
