BGSU conference examines State of the Region

BOWLING GREEN, O.—Area business leaders will give their perspective on the upside of an economic downturn at the ninth annual State of the Region Conference March 14. About 300 civic and business leaders from the 27-county northwest sector of Ohio are expected to attend.

Hosted by Bowling Green State University’s Center for Regional Development, the conference will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Hilton Garden Inn at 6165 Levis Commons Blvd. in Perrysburg.

Dr. Michael Carroll, director of the regional development center, will review economic highlights of the past year and discuss what the region may look forward to this year in his State of the Region Address at 9:15 a.m.

In a 10 a.m. presentation, Dave Clawson, BGSU head football coach, will discuss how to create a championship culture. A leadership roundtable moderated by Dr. Rodney Rogers, dean of BGSU’s College of Business Administration, will run from 10:45 a.m. to noon. The panel features area business people including David Coho, vice president of business development at Algaeventure Systems; John LaRiche, owner of LaRiche Chevrolet Cadillac; Mike Messmer, vice president and general manager of NovaVision, and Gary Thieman, senior vice president of commercial sales at Medical Mutual.

The conference is free and includes a Continental breakfast, but registration is required as seats are limited.
