BGSU rallies to ‘Take Back the Night’
BOWLING GREEN, O.—Bowling Green State University students and community members are joining with their counterparts around the world on Friday, Oct. 22, to “Take Back the Night.” Women and men will join in solidarity for a rally, march and speak-out to promote ending violence against women.
The BGSU event begins at 5 p.m. on the University Hall lawn with information tables from sponsoring organizations and a DJ.
The 6 p.m. rally will include entertainment and education. At 7 p.m., the group will march through the city streets to signify the need for all members of the community to feel safe.
Back on campus at 8 p.m., at the Women’s Center in 107 Hanna Hall, victims will have an opportunity to share their stories. Victim advocates will be on hand.
The Organization for Women’s Issues is presenting Take Back the Night in collaboration with the Graduate Women’s Caucus; Sisterhood in Serenity; Delta Xi Phi multicultural sorority; Honoring, Urging and Empowering; the Student Wellness Network; The LINK; Precious Stones, and the National Council of Negro Women, with funding from Coca-Cola.
