BGSU students helping with Lake Schools cleanup
BOWLING GREEN, O.—The rebuilding continues in Lake Township after a deadly tornado ripped through the town earlier this summer. This Friday (July 23), a group of 35 Bowing Green State University students will help with the cleanup at Lake High School.
The students are part of the Sidney A. Ribeau President’s Leadership Academy (PLA). The former BGSU President had a vision for the University – to prepare students to lead with integrity and make meaningful contributions to society during their student years and in their professions and communities as alumni. In 1997, his vision was realized with the founding of the PLA.
The unique four-year program allows students who are serious about developing their leadership skills to follow a curriculum that engages them in classes, workshops, experiential learning and community service activities.
The PLA enrolls from 15-30 new students annually. Awardees receive a renewable scholarship up to the cost of tuition and general fees.
