WBGU-PBS hosts free conference
BOWLING GREEN, O.—WBGU-PBS will host “Operation Reconnect,” a free conference on meeting the needs of military service members and their families. The conference will be held from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. June 11 in the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Theater. Free lunch will be provided to those who register by Sunday (June 6).
Behavioral and health care professionals, educators, students, employers and community members are invited to attend. Topics will include the deployment cycle and its impact, an overview of post-traumatic stress disorder, resources available for service members and families, and a panel discussion featuring service members and military family members talking about the impact of the deployment cycle.
Two of the speakers work directly with the military. Dr. Regina Shillinglaw is a deployment behavioral health psychologist with the Center for Deployment Psychology and works at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, while Dr. Jeremey Kaufman is the director of psychological health for the Ohio National Guard. Dr. Marijo Tamburrino is a specialist in combat-related post-traumatic psychopathology and adjustment and chair of the psychology department at the University of Toledo College of Medicine.
Free CEUs are available for psychologists, social workers, counselors, marriage and family therapists, rehabilitation counselors and chemical dependency specialists.
