Author Bagert highlights kids’ literacy day

BOWLING GREEN, O.—Children’s author Brod Bagert will share his writings and stories with readers of all ages at a free literacy event on March 20 at Bowling Green State University.

Bagert will be the featured author at this year’s Joseph and Judith Conda Family Literacy in the Park event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Lenhart Grand Ballroom of the Bowen-Thompson Student Union.

The free event will include morning and afternoon presentations by the author, hands-on literacy activities, story times, special prizes and complimentary refreshments and snacks. In addition, each child will receive a free literacy bag containing one of the author’s books. A variety of Bagert’s books will also be available for purchase, and he will be on hand for book signings.

Bagert grew up in New Orleans, where he studied the classics in Latin and Greek, fell in love with and married his high school sweetheart, practiced law, served in public office and raised four children. He has written poetry for most of his life, but became a full-time author and poet in 1992 after working as an attorney for 21 years. He has written 15 books for children and adults, including “Giant Children, “School Fever,” “Shout! Little Poems that Roar” and “Elephant Games.”

The event is made possible by the generosity of the Joseph and Judith Conda Family, the BGSU College of Education and Human Development and the BGSU School of Teaching and Learning.
