‘Clarinet Collage’ begins Young People’s Concerts

BOWLING GREEN, O.—The 2009-10 season of the Young People’s Concerts at Bowling Green State University’s College of Musical Arts will kick off on Saturday, Oct. 3, with “Clarinet Collage,” a presentation by the college’s clarinet studio, at 11 a.m. in Bryan Recital Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center.

The storytelling performance will include such pieces as “Overture to the ‘Marriage of Figaro’” and “Adagio” by Mozart, “Little Suite for E-flat Clarinet” by William Bolcom, “Haiku for Two Clarinets” by William O. Smith and “The Road to Hamelin” by Paul Ramsier.

The performers are students of clarinet faculty member Kevin Schempf, with special guests Dr. Solungga Fang-Tzu Liu, piano, and clarinetist Susan Knapp, director of public events at the college.

Admission is $1 for children and $2 for adults and is payable at the center’s box office the morning of the event. The box office will open at 10:30 a.m.

The Young People’s Concerts are recommended for children ages 5 and up, but younger music fans are welcome to attend. For more information, call the box office at 419-372-8171 or 800-589-2224.
