Joining the BGSU social media community
Before managing or creating a social media account that represents Bowling Green State University, please review the following.
A University-affiliated social media account is a responsibility to the University and a time-commitment. As a community where we all belong, content must be accessible. To be successful and to ensure your time is well-spent, audience size, growth, frequency of posting, content and platform best practices are all things to take into consideration.
Fractured audiences are not typically very effective. For example, if you are a department, we recommend collaborating with your college social media account to post content, rather than creating additional social media profiles, which splits up your audience.

Before creating a social media account affiliated with BGSU, take the following steps:
- Review the BGSU Brand Standards and Guidelines.
- Review the resources on this page.
- Fill out the application form below.
- If you are approved to create said social media account, we will follow up with you to set up a consultation and complete the social media contract.
- You will also be added to the BGSU social media user listservs and to the directory of BGSU accounts.
