The mission of the Schmidthorst College of Business of Business Master of Business Administration degree is to be the premier M.B.A. degree in the region and one of the best in the nation, with a commitment to excellence and continuous improvement in graduate business education.
The Master of Business Administration degree prepares tomorrow’s global leaders by involving students and faculty in the exploration of the significant challenges, opportunities, and problems facing organizations in both the private and public sectors. M.B.A. students at BGSU pursue integrative, continuously improving curricula that simultaneously challenge and stimulate. The integrative nature of the M.B.A. degree encourages students to observe the interdependent nature of organizational problems and to identify creative, comprehensive solutions. Apart from being highly relevant to the needs of organizations in the global economy, the degree helps students improve their teamwork, leadership, and critical thinking skills in a learning environment that fosters cross-cultural sensitivity and adherence to the highest ethical standards.
Individuals may pursue the M.B.A. degree through the full-time, Professional, Executive, or Online program. The M.B.A. curriculum covers the following areas: accounting, economics, ethics and law, finance, information technology, international business management, leadership and change, quantitative methods, marketing, operations management, strategy design and implementation and electives.

Accreditation
Bowling Green State University has offered the Master of Business Administration degree since 1966. The degree is accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

Admission Procedure
All four of the MBA programs are designed for individuals with or without an undergraduate degree in business. All four programs require a Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 2.75. The full-time program does not require professional experience as a condition of admission. However, the Professional, Executive, and Online MBA programs require three or more years of full-time professional or managerial experience for admission. The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is required for admission into all programs leading to the MBA degree. Applicants who earned a prior graduate degree from a regionally accredited university are eligible for an exemption from the GMAT requirement based upon their academic performance in their programs, whether their programs required a standardized admission test, and their professional qualifications. Professional and Executive MBA applicants with at least three years of full-time experience in a significant management capacity, and an undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.75 on a 4.0 scale may be eligible for an exemption from the GMAT. Online MBA applicants with at least three years of full-time experience and an undergraduate GPA of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale may be eligible for an exemption from the GMAT. Degree Requirements
Full-time MBA Program
The full-time program serves individuals who plan to enroll in 12 or more graduate credit hours per semester. The full-time program requires 41 graduate credit hours of course work. The 41 required courses should be completed in order as this format is designed to foster integration across the program and a strong learning community among the program’s participants. Enrollment in the full-time program is limited, and students may enter the program only in the fall semester. Students can complete a general MBA degree in 3 semesters or complete an MBA degree with a specialization in 4 semesters of full-time study. The full-time program requires 5 foundation courses consisting of ECON 6000, MBA 6000, MBA 6010, MBA 6030 and MBA 6100. Followed by 8 courses which consist of MBA 6820, MBA 6020, MBA 6040, MBA 6050, MBA 6060, MBA 6080 and STAT 6010. At the end of the program students take MBA 6090 which brings all their course work together.
The full-time MBA program offers formal specializations in accounting, finance, supply chain management, strategic communications, and quality systems. The accounting specialization requires ACCT 3210, 5220, 5510, 5600, and 6410. Students are also required to complete MBA 6000 and MBA 6030. The finance specialization requires MBA 5510 and 5520, and two additional courses selected from MBA 5530, 5540, 5560, 5570 5590, and 5610. The supply chain management specialization requires MBA 6040, 5410, 5420, 5450, and 5470. The strategic communications specialization requires MC 6550, MC 6551, MC 6553, and MC 6553 or MBA 6800. The quality system specialization requires QS 5270, QS 6160, QS 6260, QS 6270. Full-time MBA students may select electives from other graduate offerings on campus or may combine their MBA degrees with a second graduate degree. An additional way to strengthen the portfolio of the Full-time MBA student is to add an internship. The internship will be recognized by the university and is reflected upon the final transcript. Typically, students tend to place the internship at the end of the Full-time MBA program in the Fall-semester or after their specialization in Spring. This opportunity enables a student to gain practical experience and assists them in the job market. Furthermore, the internship allows the student still be enrolled as a student and at the same time gives them an opportunity to build their professional portfolio and network.
Professional MBA Program
The Professional MBA program serves individuals who must pursue their MBA as part-time students. Classes are offered Monday through Thursday evenings. The professional program requires 30-36 graduate credit hours, depending upon a student’s previous academic background. Professional students are encouraged to take two courses per semester so they can progress through the program with their cohort. At two courses per semester, the MBA degree can be completed in as little as 23 months. The professional MBA requires the following courses: ECON 6000, MBA 6000, MBA 6010, MBA 6020, MBA 6030, MBA 6040, MBA 6050, MBA 6060, MBA 6070, MBA 6080, STAT 6010 and MBA 6090.
Executive MBA Program
Bowling Green State University began offering an Executive MBA program in 1977 making it the oldest in Ohio and among the 10 oldest in the United States. The EMBA program serves motivated and experienced managers who desire an opportunity to interact with other highly motivated and experienced professionals in an intensive learning environment. The Executive MBA is a rigorous, accelerated program that requires ten graduate courses: MBA 6020X, 6070X, 6510X, 6200X, 6580X, 6060X, 6540X, 6050X, and 6590X and ECON 6000X. The courses are offered in a “lockstep” format. Students attend class one weekend per month, except during the week-long international field trip. Classes meet on Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. - noon and 1 p.m.-5 p.m, once a month for 21 months. The format promotes the development of a supportive learning community among the participants. Online MBA Program
This innovative program enables individuals to earn an MBA degree in a convenient asynchronous 100% online format with the flexibility to accommodate the schedules of working professionals. The Online MBA requires 15 credit hours of core courses (MBA 6030, MBA 6040, MBA 6050, MBA 6060, MBA 6070), 12 credit hours of electives (electives depend on concentration chosen), and a capstone course (MBA 6090). If a student does not hold an undergraduate degree in business, then an additional 9 hours of co-requisite foundation courses must be taken (these can be taken concurrently with MBA core courses). The foundation courses consist of ECON 6000, MBA 6000, and STAT 6010. The program can be completed on a part-time or full-time basis.
The Online MBA offers four concentrations that students can choose from: General MBA, Supply Chain Management, Finance, and Accounting. The difference between the concentrations is in the electives required. In the General MBA, students can take 4 of any of the following electives: ACCT 5510, ACCT 6230, MBA 5510, MBA 5530, MBA 6010, MBA 6020, MBA 6080, SCM 6010, SCM 6030. In the Supply Chain Management concentration, students are required to complete the following 4 electives: SCM 6010, SCM 6030, MBA 6010, and one of any of the General MBA electives. In the Finance concentration, students are required to complete the following 4 electives: MBA 5510, MBA 5530 MBA 6010, MBA 6020. In the Accounting concentration, students are required to complete the following four electives: ACCT 5510, ACCT 6230, and two of the General MBA electives. All concentrations require 30 credit hours of coursework with nine additional credits of foundation courses if a student does not hold an undergraduate degree in business.
