If you would like to learn more or have questions about our conflict coaching and restorative practices, please email odos@bgsu.edu and a staff member will be in touch.
COMMUNITY BUILDING CIRCLE
A facilitated dialogue where students come together who are a part of the same student group / organization / community / residence in order to strengthen relationships, build empathy, and establish trust. Community Building circles are also an opportunity to help re-center or re-establish the shared goals and values of the group and are tailored to address the specific goals of those involved.
CONFLICT COACHING
A process that helps students on a one-on-one basis develop or enhance skills, knowledge, and competencies to manage interpersonal conflicts and disputes more effectively. A session can help you with a specific conflictual matter or a more general concern related to your reactions and behaviors to gain increased self-awareness to handle interpersonal issues more effectively.
RESTORATIVE CIRCLE
A facilitated dialogue to discuss incidents in which one or more students have been negatively impacted in some way by the actions of another. Examples include but are not limited to roommate conflicts, classroom conflicts, student group/organization disputes, noise complaints and other community issues. A Restorative Circle is when all parties involved can express how they have been impacted and work together to develop solutions that address the harm, and work to restore trust.
