Students in BGSU’s full-time MBA program have the unique experience of hearing from professionals every Friday afternoon in their MBA 6820 course, Topics in Leadership/Management. So far, students have connected with 23 professionals from 19 different organizations throughout the region.
This past Friday, MBA students got to hear from Schmidthorst College of Business alumna Erin Schwiebert of Marathon Petroleum about the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace. She provided many take-aways to help these students in their future careers.
Grant Kudiza, a current MBA student, shared that Schwiebert’s session was his favorite so far.
“It is this type of learning that sets Bowling Green State University's MBA students apart,” Kudiza said. “Not only are we getting an accredited classroom experience, but valuable life lessons that will make an impact for years to come.”
MBA students not only get to partake in experiential learning but are also working on professional development when hearing from their weekly speakers. Students have attended presentations on professional networking, optimizing their LinkedIn profiles, job fair preparations and professional skills.
Paige Redlin, another current MBA student, talked about just how helpful this course and speakers have been for her as a young professional.
“MBA 6820 has further built my confidence in my professionalism – whether it be in selling myself to employers, in finding the correct career path, or in how to consistently grow well into my professional career,” she said. “Hearing from others’ experiences has allowed me to grow just as much as my actual coursework has thus far."
