Ohio Department of Development Grant

BGSU received an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant from the Ohio Department of Development for $911,658 to upgrade the lighting, heating, ventilation and air-condition system in Hayes Hall..

• Energy-efficient lighting
• Computer-based building management to control lights and temperature

Second phase of Energy Conservation Measures (ECM) is to upgrade lighting in twenty University buildings

• Install occupancy sensors
• Replace incandescent lights with compact fluorescent units
• Replace incandescent exit signs with LED units
• Expected to save BGSU around $5 million over the next 3 to 4 years
