Greetings from the Schmidthorst College of Business! Students, faculty and staff just enjoyed a three-week winter break to spend time with family and friends and recoup before the start of the spring semester.

In this month's student spotlight, College of Business students shared about how they spent their winter break working, relaxing, and learning new hobbies.

Looking forward, the College is gearing up for a busy and fruitful April with many opportunities for students, faculty, staff and alumni to network and celebrate entrepreneurship.

The BGSU Schmidthorst College of Business will be hosting the LEAPS (Learn, Explore and Apply Professional Skills) Conference on April 9 from 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. in the Robert W. and Patricia A. Maurer Center. Students are invited to attend the free conference and will learn professional skills to prepare for future jobs and receive the chance to network with a vast array of employers. Details about how to register for the event will be released on Feb. 4. Questions may be directed to leaps@bgsu.edu or via Instagram at @bgsuleapsconf.

Also coming up in April is one of the most exciting weeks of our year, Entrepreneur Week (E-Week), presented by the Paul J. Hooker Center of Entrepreneurship, from April 18-22. Join us for events highlighting a wide range of entrepreneurial experiences and featuring many locally- and nationally-recognized entrepreneurs. This year’s E-Week theme is 'Turning Lemons into Lemonade" and features a keynote presentation by Tom Morris, best-selling author of "Plato’s Lemonade Stand: Stirring Change into Something Great." Paul Hooker, master of ceremonies, will preside at the opening ceremony on April 18. Learn more about E-Week and register today!

One of the most exciting and nerve-wracking moments during E-Week is the annual The Hatch event on April 21. Student entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to real investors for a chance to get their businesses funded. Read about the first round of Hatchlings and their mentors.

We hope your 2022 is off to a good start and that we will see you on campus this semester!

Warm regards,
Ray Braun ‘80
Dean
