Dean’s Message

Greetings from the Schmidthorst College of Business! We have had a busy month with many awards, accomplishments and events.

The Hatch took place on April 22 and was a huge success. Ten Hatchlings pitched their business ideas to a panel of investors, leading to big breaks for our students. See here for the second half of Hatchlings and mentors featured and here for a recap of the event.

The Schmidthorst College welcomed in a new cohort of Peer Leaders as well as nominated 11 successful seniors for the Karl E. Vogt Outstanding Senior Award in their respective departments. The winner, Janae Johnson, was announced on April 15. Read the full story on her here.

A virtual dinner was hosted for the graduating class of Schmidthorst Student Ambassadors, where fellow ambassadors and I assigned each member with a superlative and reflected on the time spent in the organization this year.

Women in Business Leadership (WBL) received the BGSU Outstanding Student Organization of the Year Award at the Gregory T. DeCrane Applauding Excellence Ceremony on April 15. This is a campus-wide award, with a total of 350 organizations to choose from. We want to congratulate WBL and thank them for the hard work they’ve put in over the years to lead up to this accomplishment.

As we begin to wrap up the semester, we look forward to updating you with continued faculty, staff, and student success!
