Dean's Message September 2021
Greetings from the Schmidthorst College of Business!
The Allen W. and Carol M. Schmidthorst College of Business is excited to welcome students, faculty, staff and alumni back to campus for this academic year. We will be returning to full face to face classes and activities on campus. The Schmidthorst Class of 2025 has begun their first semester classes, and we look forward to seeing them flourish during their time at BGSU.
The start of fall semester marks the one-year anniversary of the Robert W. and Patricia A. Maurer Center. Our new home for business education has received the highest praises from both students and faculty, and we are eager to continue taking advantage of the building’s many features.
We are sad to share that on June 18, 2021, Paige Redlin, a graduate student in the Schmidthorst College of Business, passed away after fighting a courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia. Paige was heavily involved in the college including serving as president of Women in Business Leadership, a Schmidthorst Student Ambassador and directing the first campus-wide women’s conference last spring. Paige touched the lives of many and will be remembered for her passion to inspire women in their pursuit of business careers.
The Schmidthorst College of Business has planned several events for the academic year, including Homecoming, Honors and Awards Night and E-Week. We are also offering tours of the Maurer Center during Homecoming weekend as part of Saturday’s Falconland events from noon to 2 p.m.
We are looking forward to another successful academic year and hope to see you on campus!
Warm Regards,
Ray Braun '80
Dean
