The Schmidthorst College of Business hosted several advisory board meetings during Homecoming weekend. The Leadership Council, The Young Alumni Board, and The Paul J. Hooker Center Advisory Board all met in person to discuss plans for the upcoming semester.
The Leadership Council is comprised of successful alumni and friends who advise Schmidthorst College of Business Dean Raymond Braun regarding strategic planning, curricula, student mentorship, internships and co-ops, job placement, faculty engagement with industry and alumni affairs. Prospective members are nominated by the Nominating and Governance Committee of the Leadership Council and recommended by the Dean for appointment by the Vice President of University Advancement.
The Young Alumni Board is comprised of successful alumni and friends who have graduated within the last 15 years and provides Dean Braun with an early-career perspective.
This Paul J. Hooker Center Advisory Board consists of highly successful entrepreneurs who work closely with Paul J. Hooker Center Director Kirk Kern and Dean Braun to promote the Center's programs and services to help others launch new business ventures.
After the meetings, the Leadership Council hosted a reception to recognize Schmidthorst College of Business faculty and staff for their success in quickly adapting to remote learning during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We know that over the past two years you have been faced with a heck of a situation because of COVID-19,” said Michael Laming, Chair of the Leadership Council, during a toast to the faculty and staff. “We are all impressed at how you exhibited the leadership and fortitude to make the most of online teaching and on behalf of the Leadership Council, we wanted to say thank you.”
The reception was held in the Atrium of the Maurer Center. Advisory board members had the opportunity to network with faculty, staff, fellow advisory board members, and student ambassadors.
Schmidthorst Student Ambassador, Dagmar Chapin, spoke about how the Schmidthorst College of Business has positively changed her life and expressed her thanks to the faculty and staff for all the hard work they do for the students.
