High School Teachers Can Earn Professional Development Credits through College of Business
BGSU’s College of Business continues going beyond business as usual. We have initiated many programs and activities that differentiate us from other business schools. One of these new programs allows high school business teachers to earn two professional development units by attending a workshop being offered at locations around the state on the topic of financial literacy. This initiative is in collaboration with the BGSU College of Education which will oversee the workshop content.
The state of Ohio has recently implemented mandates requiring all high school students receive financial literacy education. According to Susan Kosakowski, the College’s recruitment coordinator, this workshop will provide teachers researched information to develop their own personal knowledge as well as specific means of incorporating this research into their classrooms. “Hands-on experience and round-table discussions will be a part of these workshops,” adds Kosakowski who is responsible for this initiative’s implementation.
Here is a schedule of the workshops.
Tuesday, October 6 - Lockkeeper's Restaurant; Valley View, OH
Wednesday, October 7 – Holiday Inn; Youngstown, OH
Monday, October 12 – Holiday Inn & Suites; Farmington Hills, MI
Monday, October 19 – Embassy Suites-Airport; Columbus, OH
Monday, October 26 – Hilton Garden Inn; Perrysburg, OH
Wednesday, October 28 – Marriott; Dayton, OH
Thursday, October 29 – Crowne Plaza-Blue Ash; Cincinnati, OH
*All workshops run from 4 - 7:30 p.m.
Immediately following each workshop, the College of Business will host a networking session with food and refreshments, allowing educators to learn more about the opportunities in our College. Educators will also be provided materials to share with their students about the value of a business degree from BGSU!
