Faculty Honored for Excellence by Leadership Council

The College of Business Leadership Council created Faculty Excellence Awards to recognize outstanding faculty accomplishments in teaching, engaging with industry to provide experiential learning, and using technology to improve learning outcomes. This was the second year for the Leadership Council to honor the outstanding contributions made by faculty to achieve the Council’s vision. The award selections were made by a committee from the Leadership Council.
Leadership Council member, Randy Winkle, Global HR Process Architect at Veyance Technologies, presented the 2015 awards to the following faculty at a recent dinner:
- Dr. Dwayne Gremler, Professor of Marketing - Excellence in Teaching Award
- Dr. Arthur Yeh, Professor and Chair of the Department of Applied Statistics and Operations Research - Engagement with Industry to Foster Experiential Learning Award
- Dr. Pascal Bizarro, Associate Professor of Accounting - Using Technology to Improve Learning Outcomes Award
Dr. Gremler was recently named Distinguished Teaching Professor, which is the highest designation bestowed on a faculty member by the University. He has received some of the highest honors given by marketing organizations for his impact on the services marketing field. He was named Outstanding Marketing Teacher by the Academy of Marketing Science, Master Teacher by the Marketing Management Association, and named a Fulbright Scholar where he served as a visiting professor at the University of Maastricht in The Netherlands. He was recently presented with the 2014 Christopher Lovelock Career Contributions Award, which is the highest award presented in the field of services marketing.
Dr. Yeh established the Center for Business Analytics Advisory Board, organized the Annual Best Practices in Business Analytics Symposium, collaborated with leaders at Tianjin Polytechnic University in China to organize a Business Analytics Symposium in that country, and worked with companies on projects through the Center for Business Analytics that have supported graduate assistantships, networking opportunities, co-ops, internships, and employment for BGSU students. He has created strong relationships with companies such as Owens Corning, Marathon Petroleum Corporation, and General Motors. His dedication has provided numerous opportunities for students.
Accounting Associate Professor, Dr. Bizarro, utilizes the flip-the-classroom teaching pedagogy and is able to use technology to assist students with mastering content, refreshing previously learned content, simulating real world situations and decision making opportunities, tracking intellectual development and measuring the impact of technology on learning outcomes through online collaboration tools, presentation software, learning management systems, smartphones and tablets, lecture-capture tools, adaptive learning systems, test authoring tools, remote proctoring tools, and numerous software platforms. He has been involved on committees and taskforces relating to online teaching and learning assessments for both the College of Business and the University. Dr. Bizarro has utilized cutting edge technology to help students excel in the classroom and prepare them for their careers.
Each award winner was presented a trophy and a check for $5,000 made possible by generous contributions of the members of the Leadership Council. The faculty will also be recognized on signage in the Business Administration Building.
