The journalism program at BGSU trains the next generation of journalism professionals with the skills they need to be successful in this technologically changing, multicultural society. We offer a mix of classroom instruction, practical, hands-on experience and connections to successful alumni and media organizations.

Journalism students within the School of Media and Communication benefit from a mix of classroom instruction and practical, hands-on experience in state-of-the-art production studios in the Michael & Sara Kuhlin Center. A major in journalism balances skills training and courses about the media and society.

Career - what can you do with a journalism degree?
Many of our journalism students gain significant experience being involved in the Falcon Media organizations. Students also complete internships with local and regional media outlets to add to their experience and networking opportunities. Our graduates have been hired by television stations, radio stations, newspapers, corporations, universities and nonprofit organizations.

Curriculum
Students in the nationally accredited journalism program learn to analyze and deliver content in a variety of media forms such as video, podcasts, print and social media. Because of the applied-knowledge courses and the required two internships, our journalism graduates are guaranteed to have significant practical experience. Students also have many opportunities to learn journalism firsthand through our Falcon Media organizations.

Bowling Green State University [BGSU] is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. BGSU has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 01/01/1916. The most recent reaffirmation of accreditation was received in 2022-2023, with our next reaffirmation of accreditation scheduled for 2032-2033.
