Elizabeth M. Meadows
Visual Arts
Originally from Cleveland and Shaker Heights, I grew up in the Cleveland Museum of Art and Cleveland Institute of Art taking Young Artist Classes. I am a middle aged, disabled mother of four re-entering academia for the first time since my BFA at Carnegie Mellon University in 1994. For twelve years, I was co-owner of a high-end architectural ornament stone carving company and Art Instructor in Oberlin, Ohio. My current project is a diversion from my previous works. I have an interest in exploring the role of women of color in the history of sculpture, while continuing to learn about body ornamentation and metal sculpture which is my preferred concentration. Upon completion of my degree, I would also like to establish a community art program for low income and at-risk youth in Erie, Huron and Lorain Counties.
