Crystalyn Hutchens
Visual Arts
Crystalyn Hutchens is a contemporary semi- realistic painter working and living out of Ohio. Her current body of work surrounds bringing awareness to individuals in chronically ill and disabled communities. By using the female body within her paintings and drawings, she longs to create a language which can be visually read by all types of audiences to start a dialogue of understanding, compassion and connection. Her style adds ambiguity to the body and furthers the questions of misunderstanding the missing discussions about this community.
Crystalyn’s work has been exhibited in multiple regional national juried exhibitions as well as been recognized internationally with the Eco Aware Art Gallery in India. She has been awarded Best in Show at the Now OhioExhibition at the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery at Bowling Green State University in 2021. She also placed Second in the National Juried show by the Majestic Gallery in 2017.
Receiving her Bachelors of Fine Arts from Ohio University in 2015 and her Master's degree at Eastern Illinois University in 2019.Currently, she is finishing her Masters of Fine Arts Degree at Bowling Green State University with an anticipated graduate in Spring of 2022.
