Description
For qualified firefighters who wish to complete their instructor certification with a combination of concentrated class work and online learning.

You will learn the principles of adult learning, communication, instructional methods, lesson plan development, assessment, NFPA 1403 Awareness, and all other components of the ODPS Instructor Course core curriculum. 

Special Requirements
Candidates must hold a valid certificate to practice as a firefighter issued under section 4765.55 of the Ohio Revised Code; in the preceding seven years, have at least five years of experience as a certified firefighter. (Fire Instructor Knowledge exam is no longer a prerequisite)

The online section of this class is flexible, but you must meet assignment deadlines each week.

Please bring PC laptop for in-class portion.

Purchase and bring IFSTA Fire and Emergency Services Instructor (9th edition - 2019). Publisher: Fire Protection Publications.  Self-study guide is optional, but recommended.
