Description
The fireground is a fast-paced environment with many moving parts. As the officer, you oversee size up, safety and fire tactics. In this class, you will learn from three safety officers with many years of experience. The instructors will discuss tactics that can be implemented and carried out by any size fire department. They will share an aggressive approach to initial scene size up (360), tactics with focus on risk management, safety officer responsibilities, rapid intervention and scene accountability. Students will review and discuss tactical reports from near-miss situations and learn what was done to prevent these situations from happening again. Actual fireground video from a safety officer’s perspective will be shared to help reinforce the topics covered. This class is designed for all ranks in the fire service from aspiring fire officers to department chief.
