Xiangdong Xie, Ph.D., Department of Math and Statistics

My research is in Geometric Group Theory and Geometric Analysis. More specifically, I am currently working on geometric analysis on Carnot groups and large scale geometry of negatively curved spaces and nilpotent Lie groups. These are very active, current research areas. For the 2013 SETGO Summer Research projects, students will explore the rigidity and nonrigidity properties of Carnot groups. Students will be exposed to major open problems in these areas and will have the opportunity to make contributions to the solution of these problems.
