Catherine E. Smith

Catherine E. Smith is Assistant Chief Flight Instructor and a full time faculty member in the Aviation Studies Program at Bowling Green State University. She is responsible for ensuring that student flight and ground training is conducted in accordance with both the Federal Aviation Administration and Bowling Green State University. Ms. Smith graduated from BGSU with a Bachelor of Science in Technology specializing in Aviation Studies in 1998 and a Master of Education in 2008. She has worked as a pilot in the airline industry for Northwest Airlink operated by Mesaba Airlines as well as serving as an Instructor for BGSU's Aviation Studies Program. Her professional pilot and flight instruction experience has recently earned her a role in pilot certification as a Designated Pilot Examiner for the FAA. She particularly enjoys opportunities to help students "bridge the gap" from flight training to real world pilot skills and technology education.
