2021 Volleyball Preview

Bowling Green State University Volleyball will return to the court for the fall 2021 campaign to defend the team’s MAC regular-season and tournament titles. The regular-season title marked the third in the last four seasons for the Falcons, while the tournament championship granted BGSU the program’s first NCAA berth since 2012.

The Falcons will return 15 of the program’s 17 players from the 2020-21 season, including three members of the All-MAC First Team and one from the All-MAC Second Team. Bowling Green will also welcome three newcomers to the program who all bring a great deal of talent to the program.

"This might be the most challenging non-conference schedule during my tenure at BGSU,” said Head Coach Danijela Tomic. “I believe this is necessary for our program to take the next step towards becoming one of the top 25 programs in the nation. We will be tested against very strong competition, which will help our development and prepare us for a demanding MAC schedule."

Those returning will include Katie Kidwell, who is only four blocks away from becoming the program’s all-time leader in career total blocks, and Petra Indrova who was named an AVCA Northeast Honorable Mention last season.

As a team, the Orange and Brown went 22-2 overall during the 2020-21 season, including an 18-match win streak to begin the season that broke the BGSU record for most wins to begin a season and the program record for longest win streak. The season’s conclusion also saw Tomic named the MAC Coach of the Year as well as the AVCA Northeast Region Coach of the Year.
