Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)

The Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) is the university’s administrative and decision-making body responsible for reviewing and approving research involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules and other biohazardous materials. IBC approval is required before any work with covered materials may begin. The IBC’s operations are supported and administered by the Division of Research.

Meeting Minutes:

Effective June 1, 2025 (per NIH NOT-OD-25-082 and the NIH Guidelines), BGSU will publicly post approved IBC meeting minutes for activities involving recombinant or synthetic nucleic acid molecules.
