Schedule Designer Guide
Design your ideal class schedule with the BGSU Schedule Designer. You are in control of the courses you register for by setting preferences for days, times and instructors. Set busy times for things like work, athletics or other commitments. Auto-generate multiple schedule options and use the lock tool to secure your ideal courses. Once you've confirmed your final list, share your schedule with friends, parents or work supervisors. Follow the steps below to set your preferences and compare schedule options.
Access Schedule Designer by choosing the Classes and Registration tile from your Student Center and then click on Schedule Designer in the left hand navigation.
Choose the Schedules tab from the menu bar.
- Use the drop-down menu to select the term for which you want to build a Class List and begin searching for courses.
- Please note: Use the checkboxes to limit course search results.
- Add each class to your list by clicking the +Class button.
- Please note: Click the Details button to see course descriptions and pre-requisites.
- When complete, click the Finished Adding Classes button.
Choose to either create your own schedule or auto-generate with schedule designer.
Create Your Own
Easily select course offerings based on the Class List to personally build an ideal schedule.
- Block off unavailable time periods by clicking Add Busy Time.
- Set the name and time patterns, then click Save.
- Click the Create Your Own button to start building a schedule.
- Select each course from the drop-down menu to see all offerings.
- Please note: Use the Legend link to view Status definitions
- Add each available section to the schedule using the + button.
- IMPORTANT - Always use the blue Info button to verify the campus before adding a course to your schedule. Room location and instructor can also be found here (if assigned.)
When all selections have been added to the schedule click Finished Editing Sections.
Click the All Schedules menu to build alternative schedules or click Edit Sections to adjust the current schedule.
- Once the perfect schedule is planned it's time to enroll! Ensure the correct schedule is set as the Primary Schedule and click Add to Cart.
- This will redirect to the Student Center Shopping Cart to complete the enrollment process.
Auto-Generate
An advanced option; set preferences and allow Schedule Designer to build prioritized schedule options for you.
- Block off unavailable time periods by clicking Add Busy Time.
- Set the name and time patterns, then click Save.
- Click the Auto-Generate button to begin setting preferences for the term.
- Please note: If a schedule has already been built, this button is located under the All Schedules tab.
- Review and set all preferences by clicking the Configure Preferences button.
- Please note: Move through each of the preference categories by clicking Next at the end of each page. Do not click the Save & Finish button until all preferences have been set.
- IMPORTANT: Always set your Campus under Additional Preferences.
- After all preferences have been set and saved, choose the maximum number of schedules you would like auto-generated from the drop-down menu.
- Then click the Generate Schedules button.
- Schedules will be generated and prioritized based upon preference settings. Click the View Details button to open each schedule.
- Please Note: Specific sections may be saved to all schedules by clicking the Lock icon.
- Review and save as many schedules as desired using the Return and Save buttons at the top of the screen.
- Please note: Set a "Primary Schedule" when saving or by selecting a schedule and clicking the Make Primary button. Only Primary Schedules can be moved to the Shopping Cart.
- Once the perfect schedule is planned it's time to enroll! Ensure the correct schedule is set as the Primary Schedule and click Add to Cart.
- This will redirect to the Student Center Shopping Cart to complete the enrollment process.
