Vice President for Research Search
December 8, 2022
As outlined in our strategic plan, Forward, research remains a top priority at Bowling Green State University. I want to provide faculty and staff with an update on the search for the next leader of the University's research and creative activities enterprise.
BGSU is in the process of launching a national search for the vice president for research and has retained executive search firm Isaacson, Miller to assist in recruiting for this critical position. Dr. Dawn Shinew, dean of the College of Education and Human Development, will serve as chair of the search committee that includes representation from across the University. Faculty, deans, chairs and directors, staff and other constituents have been invited to participate in virtual scoping meetings with Isaacson, Miller. The scoping meeting will inform development of the position profile used for the recruitment process.
Once confirmed, the profile, as well as list of committee members, will be available on the Office of the Provost website on our dedicated webpage for the search for the next vice president for research. This link will be updated throughout the search to keep you informed as the search progresses.
The goal is to have the next vice president for research begin on or before July 1, 2023. Dr. Michael Manning, interim vice president for research, will continue to serve in the interim role throughout the national search.
I look forward to working with the University community to identify leader of the research and creative activities enterprise.
Regards,
Joe B. Whitehead, Ph.D.
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs
