Dr. Matthew Partin named BGSU’s 2024 Distinguished Teaching Professor
Specializing in marine and aquatic science, Dr. Partin joined the faculty in the Department of Biological Sciences in 1998 and was promoted to teaching professor in 2017. Employing best practices, he has developed an innovative, student-focused marine and aquatic biology curriculum that centers around experiential learning. This curriculum has been peer-reviewed and recognized as an exemplary practice of Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) by CUREnet, a National Science Foundation program.
Dr. Partin also serves as advisor for over 100 undergraduate students, supervises honors projects and serves as coordinator for our Marine Laboratory, where he mentors students in marine biology research. Dr. Partin also works regularly with local schools, providing students with learning opportunities to encourage careers in science.
