BGSU board appoints new provost and senior vice president at February meeting
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – At their February meeting, the Bowling Green State University Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Dr. Ravi Krovi as provost and senior vice president following a competitive national search.
Krovi comes to Bowling Green from Weber State University, a comprehensive public, regional university serving more than 30,000 students near Salt Lake City, Utah, where he has served as provost and senior vice president of academic affairs since 2020. Throughout his career, he has successfully leveraged external partnerships with a variety of organizations to develop new programs, faculty positions and student success initiatives.
Krovi also facilitated a collaboration with the School of Medicine at the University of Utah to strategically manage a national education and research center in occupational health and safety and a materials technology accelerator with industry partners in Northern Utah.
“As we look to leverage our momentum and differentiate the Bowling Green experience, Dr. Krovi brings extensive knowledge of student success and access to public higher education,” BGSU President Rodney K. Rogers said. “Dr. Krovi is uniquely positioned to elevate our academic offerings to meet the evolving needs of our students and state, with a deep understanding of the landscape of public higher education in Ohio. We look forward to welcoming him to Bowling Green this spring as we continue our momentum in meeting the current and future needs of our students and society as a 21st-century, comprehensive research university.”
Prior to his work at Weber State University, Krovi held multiple leadership roles at the University of Akron, including serving as dean of the College of Business Administration for a decade, where he secured more than $32 million in private philanthropy, as well as corporate and other commitments to support business students and programs. In addition to his extensive experience in higher education leadership, Krovi has worked with organizations like Goodyear Tire, Eaton Corporation, the U.S. Department of Transportation and the National Science Foundation.
Krovi visited Bowling Green for an on-campus interview in January, meeting students, faculty and staff. He is expected to start following the conclusion of the spring semester.
