BGSU welcoming new and returning students to campus with Weeks of Welcome programming

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – As the No. 1 university in Ohio for the student experience, Bowling Green State University is celebrating new and returning students on campus for fall semester with its signature Weeks of Welcome (WoW) programming now through Oct. 4.

Open to all students, BGSU WoW events and activities provide an opportunity to discover new experiences, create lifelong memories and explore the endless possibilities in the University's vibrant and comprehensive learning community.

Sunset on the Hill
New for 2024, students are invited to watch the sunset together before the first day of classes at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, on the hill located near Doyt L. Perry Stadium.

First Day of Classes
On Monday, Aug. 26, the new academic year at BGSU officially begins with the first day of classes, featuring traditions new and old for the learning community. New and returning students are invited to stop by the BGSU letters outside the Bowen-Thompson Student Union from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for first day photos.

Rally BG on Main
BGSU and the City of Bowling Green are partnering once again to host Rally BG on Main from 2 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, in the city's downtown. The free community event offers students, residents and visitors a chance to shop, dine and explore all that Bowling Green has to offer.

Additional 2024 BGSU WoW programming includes:

  • Welcome to Wellness: Students are invited to relax and unwind with free smoothies, the PAWS team and games while learning about wellness at BGSU on Aug. 28 on the Bowen-Thompson Student Union Oval.
  • Falcon football vs. Fordham: In the first home game of the season, the Falcon football team will take on Fordham on Aug. 29 at The Doyt.
  • Movie Night on the Lawn: Students are invited to enjoy a free screening of "Inside Out 2" on Aug. 30 on the Bowen-Thompson Quadrangle lawn.
  • Campus Fest: Set for Sept. 4, the annual fair offers students a chance to learn about different learning community groups, including nearly 400 student organizations, local merchants, community partners and University offices.
